Edward Raleigh
Eddie works primarily in Boyle, Autry & Murphy’s criminal practice. While in law school, he clerked for the Maryland Office of the Public Defender for Baltimore City in the Felony Trial Division and for the New York County District Attorney’s Office in Trial Bureau 50. Through his experience, Eddie has developed an in-depth approach to legal issues. He evaluates each one on an individual basis and analyzes its legal and factual strengths and weaknesses.
Before law school, Eddie attended Washington College where he was a Captain of the Men’s Swim Team and a Resident Area Director. While there, he achieved dean’s list grades and, in 2008, graduated cum laude with a degree in Economics. Eddie continued his academic pursuits at Georgetown University Law Center where he again graduated cum laude.
At Georgetown, Eddie won The International Academy of Trial Lawyers’ Award for Distinguished Achievement in Art and Science of Advocacy for his outstanding work representing misdemeanor defendant’s in D.C. Superior Court. Through those representations, Eddie conducted bail hearings, investigated cases, and argued motions. Eddie also prepared and/or tried misdemeanor cases for stalking, unlawful entry, simple assault, cocaine possession and domestic violence. He analyzed and advocated for alternative sentencing including drug treatment and housing availability. He also worked alongside an experienced attorney to negotiate a global plea with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for a misdemeanor Simple Assault and felony Assault with a Dangerous Weapon charges.
Since joining the firm, Eddie has worked on state post-conviction relief, federal habeas corpus petitions, and direct appeals. He has also assisted on preparing motions for upcoming trials. In his free time, Eddie enjoys the outdoors by running, hiking, and swimming.
